Zoom (Canvas) - Canvas integration settings

Campus Zoom administrators from University of Wisconsin System institutions (other than UW Madison) often have questions about the configuration of the integration connecting the UW System instance of Zoom to Canvas. This document, intended for UW Zoom and Canvas administrators, describes those integration settings.

Here were the settings for the Zoom Canvas LTI/API at UW System as of September 2021. These settings may be updated faster than the documentation is updated.

Instructional instance settings

  • Allow Students to Schedule and Host Meetings: Yes
  • Enable Meeting Link to Auto Login Users: Yes
    Users authenticated through their LMS will be automatically logged in to their Zoom client for the duration of the meeting when joining via an LTI-generated link.
  • Enable Auto Login to Zoom via LMS IDP: No
    If user is logged into the LMS via SSO, and the LMS uses the same IDP that is used to SSO login to Zoom, then automatically log the user into their Zoom account.
  • Auto Provision Zoom Users: Yes
    Users that are automatically created will receive an email notification unless your org uses managed domains or trusted domains.
  • Auto provision: Instructor and Student

    Automatically populate the instructors of a course as alternative host when create a new meeting.

    Display attendance reports for previous meetings.
  • Cloud Recording Link: Yes
    Automatically adds a link to the recording in the student view of the previous meetings.
  • Recordings to Students: Published
  • Meeting Invitation for Students: Yes
    Automatically adds a button to show the meeting invitation in the student view of the upcoming meetings.

    Set the LTI Pro user's email address from the value of the LTI attribute set here.
  • Approved Domains:
    Add all of the domains that can be used to access the LMS. For security reasons, LTI Pro will only operate in approved domains that have been entered here.
  • Timezone: No
    Configure timezone origin as LMS or LTI Pro and set default time zone.
