Canvas – Integration – Hypothesis

Summary

Hypothesis enables students to collaboratively annotate Canvas web pages and files, public web pages and PDF files. Annotation activities (see: https://www.chronicle.com/article/annotate-this-how-a-common-academic-practice-can-boost-learning) can be used as module topics and as assignments. As an assignment, annotations appear in SpeedGrader.

Costs

Hypothesis must be licensed by each institution. Institutions may contact Hypothes.is for pricing and to arrange a pilot.

New Users

Interested faculty and staff should contact their institutional admin if they are interested in using this tool.

Directions

Once the tool is enabled, instructors are free to make annotation activities in their course.
