Canvas - Integration - Pressbooks

The Pressbooks integration for Canvas is approved for use in the Digital Learning Environment. The Pressbooks integration allows instructors to add chapters from Pressbooks textbooks added to the Universities of Wisconsin Pressbooks license to Canvas course modules. Chapters with gradable H5P activities which the book author has configured to support LMS grading can be added as assignments in Canvas, and gradebook scores can be sent automatically from Pressbooks to the Canvas gradebook. Chapters without gradable assignments can be added as linked content in modules.

Costs

Requires a Pressbooks enterprise network license. The Universities of Wisconsin System has a network license with Pressbooks and distributes book licenses to participating universities. Librarians can make these books available for instructors at their university to use with the Pressbooks Canvas integration.

New Users

Instructors interested in using Pressbooks in Canvas should contact their campus library to see if their university is part of the UW System Pressbooks network license and to ask which books they have available. If Pressbooks books are available through their library, instructors should then contact their campus Canvas administrator to request the installation of the Pressbooks external tool.
