Canvas: Using SpeedGrader to Create Transcripts (Video)
Transcripts are now generated for all videos added to Kaltura with spoken words (English Only). These transcripts rely on the automatic caption feature in Kaltura. Please see our knowledge base article on Kaltura (Captioning) - Captioning Kaltura Videos.
Marjorie Bazluki, Instructional Designer at UW-La Crosse developed a short-cut way for creating video transcripts. In the video linked below, Marjorie demonstrates using the "speech-to-text" feature of SpeedGrader in Canvas to create a rough transcript of a narrated PowerPoint presentation. The transcript can then be edited and uploaded to a Kaltura video as closed captioning. This technique can also be used to create a transcript of YouTube videos.
