Fall 2021 L&S Policies for Course Modalities
Course sections should be taught in the mode listed in the Schedule of Classes. This published information allows students to make enrollment decisions that meet their needs and preferences.
- Instructors must teach course sections (including lectures, discussions and labs) according to the modality currently indicated in the schedule of classes. See campus guidance “Course Modalities.”
- Individual instructors may not change the modality of their courses. Such decisions are to be made by departments and are subject to approval by the College (Associate Dean Shirin Malekpour and Campus.
- When a student enrolls in an in-person section, they are committing to being physically present in the classroom. Instructors are not NOT expected to teach an in-person course remotely to accommodate student absences.
A temporary change of modality is a last resort in circumstances where an instructor or significant number of students are ill or quarantined. Please see absence from teaching and coverage of teaching duties for more information.
