KB User's Guide - News Tab - News Item Status

This document defines the different states of a News item.

Visibility of News Items by Status

Future News Items:

  • Activation date in the future
  • Expiration date in the future
  • Do NOT appear in the News and Announcements content module of your KB live site(s)
  • Do NOT appear in News archive (accessed by clicking the More News link in the content module)

    More news link in the news content module live sire

  • Only viewable in KB Admin Tools > News Tab

Active News Items:

  • Activation date in the past
  • Expiration date in the future
  • Appear in the News and Announcements content module of your KB Site

Expired and Archived News Items:

  • Activation date in the past
  • Expiration date in the past
  • Do NOT appear in the News and Announcements content module of your KB Site
  • Expired News can be found in the KB Admin Tools (accessed by selecting All News (right column) > Updated Descending (search filters)). The expiration date column display active News Item dates in green and expired dates in red. 
  • Archived News appear in the KB Admin Tools by selecting the Archive link left column of the KB Admin Tools.

Expired and Hidden News Items:

  • Activation date in the past
  • Expiration date in the past
  • Do NOT appear in the News and Announcements content module of your KB Site(s)
  • Only viewable in the KB Admin Tools > All News > sort by Updated Descending (search filters)

To hide a news item:

  1. Edit the news item in the KB Admin Tools.
  2. In the Advanced section in the right editing panel, go to the Hide when expired option select Yes from the dropdown menu 

    Advanced menu - Hide when expired - select Yes

  3. Select Publish from the dropdown.

    Select publish to retain the hidden opton
