The feature option in Canvas, Mobile Offline Mode, will be enabled in the Universities of Wisconsin instances of Canvas on Friday, May 17, 2024. These instances include Instructional, Training and Development, and Continuing Education. This does not include UW-Madison as UW-Madison has a separate installation of Canvas.

The Mobile Offline Mode on the Canvas student mobile allows students to sync course content to view as read-only when the mobile device is offline. Users will have increased flexibility and productivity when they experience unreliable or unavailable internet connectivity.

Students cannot participate in discussions, take quizzes, or participate in any other activity that requires interaction with the app.

When using the Canvas student app in Offline mode, course content is clearly marked with the icon of a cloud with a slash through it and the word Offline.

Once internet access is restored, the content syncs to the current course content.
