Canvas: Allow Observers to Sign-up for Appointment Groups

Effective February 20, 2024, observers will be able to sign up for appointments when permitted by the instructor during appointment group creation in the Universities of Wisconsin installations of Canvas.
This change does not impact the University of Wisconsin-Madison installation of Canvas.
Users enrolled as Institutional Administrators will be able to modify this setting for their sub-accounts.
Instructors interested in including observers in appointment reservation opportunities should check the Allow observers to sign-up checkbox when creating an appointment group. If the appointment group is associated with numerous courses across multiple sub-accounts, all sub-accounts must have the Allow Observers to sign up for appointments when enabled by the teacher checkbox checked. If it is not, the Allow observers to sign-up checkbox will not be available.
Once Allow observers to sign-up is checked in an appointment group, observers can click Find Appointment in the Calendar to view all available appointment groups and reserve spots.
