Canvas: Submit on Behalf of Student

Submit on Behalf of Student is a new feature included in the March 18, 2023 Canvas release. This feature was enabled for instructors and facilitators in the University of Wisconsin System (excluding the University of Wisconsin-Madison) installation of Canvas on March 19, 2023.
Instructors and facilitators can submit a file upload assignment on behalf of a student in the Gradebook. The submission includes the timestamp and name of the person who submitted the assignment. These details will be visible in the Grade Detail Tray and SpeedGrader.
Additionally, the instructor or facilitator can submit multiple files at a time for a single student and submit beyond the availability date. This update allows instructors and facilitators the option to support students in situations that need an alternative means of submission for assignments. Instructors and facilitators can only submit assignments on behalf of students when File Upload is one of the available submission types for the assignment.
