Canvas - Support Admin Role Change

The Manage Course > Courses - delete permission will be removed from the role of Support Admin in all UW-System instances (except UW-Madison) of Canvas. This change will be made on July 26, 2022.

Canvas support administrators currently have the ability (permission) to delete a course. This permission was originally implemented to allow support admins the ability to reset courses, and was part of the same setting as the “reset course” permission.  Canvas permissions continue to evolve and become more granular so now the delete course permission can be removed while retaining the reset course permission. The Roles and Permissions work group has reviewed the change to permissions and recommended this change to meet data security and records management requirements.
