In order to ensure the security of SCORM content in Canvas, the engineering team at Instructure will be performing an upgrade on Saturday, July 17, 2021 to require signed launch links for accessing SCORM content.

By making this change all SCORM content will be encrypted, meaning that only users that are enrolled in the course where the SCORM content was uploaded will be given access. This upcoming change will make SCORM content more secure and prevent it from being viewed outside of the intended audiences. This change will mostly affect cases where links to SCORM content are embedded directly into a page or other content, such as assignment descriptions.

Instructure’s engineering team has identified two courses in the UW-System Canvas account that are using unsupported methods for sharing URLs to SCORM content. We've asked the DLE team on that campus to work with the instructors of these two courses to update the content that will continue to be used in current or future courses to ensure that it is being provided to our users in a supported method and so that student coursework is not interrupted. Detailed instructions to update SCORM content are here: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/The-Canvas-tl-dr/SCORM-to-Require-Signed-Launch-Links/ba-p/465208.
