On 11/22/2019, the University of Wisconsin System Digital Learning Environment project team updated the Kaltura settings for downloading media files.
Media download settings were changed following reports that users were getting only low quality copies of videos when clicking the download button on videos which allowed downloading. The settings of download-enabled video players were updated to a "preferred bitrate" of 3220 kbps, which effectively means that Kaltura will give users the highest-resolution copy of a media file when downloading.
This change impacts all download-enabled players in the Digital Learning Environment; these most commonly appear on a video owner's My Media page and when a video owner uses advanced video embed options to share a Download or Download/Share/Embed video player with users.
