Kaltura - Kaltura Video Players
This guide describes the video player options available in the University of Wisconsin System (except for UW Madison) instance of Kaltura. The video player is the wrapper which goes around the video content and determines which features (such as play button, volume controls, and closed captions) are available to viewers.
The user creating the video link or embed (typically the video owner) determines which video player is used when they create the link or embed; the viewer does not get to choose. The same video content can be displayed with different video players in different places.
Here are the video players available on the UW System (except for UW Madison) instance of Kaltura. Users who would like a new player to be created with a different combination of features should submit a Change Request.
UW-Player-00 - Simplified
Description
A streamlined video player in a 16:9 aspect ratio with fewer features than the Basic player (below). Missing features include a title bar, playback speed selector, and quality selector. Player ID: 42910151

UW-Player-02 - Download
Description
Includes all of the features of the Basic player (above) but also includes a "download" button which allows viewers to download a copy of the video file. Available in a 16:9 aspect ratio for video content. There is a separate player (below) available for downloading audio content. Player ID: 42909951
