JIRA Delegated Project Admins can make minimal customizations to its delivered fields.

Special Considerations when adding a Custom Field

When adding a custom field, much consideration must be placed on the visibility of the custom field with:

  • Screens
  • Screen Schemes
  • Issue Types
  • Workflows

Important tips

  • Set the visibility of the custom field to be only for the project(s) that will use it - otherwise, it will show up for all users in screens like the bulk change of tasks logic.
  • Name the field to be related to its data or use (e.g. "Priority") rather than the project (e.g. "Bursar Priority") to allow for reuse by other JIRA users.
  • If a similar field already exists, please use it rather than creating a new one (even if the name is not identical) to keep field use manageable.
