L&S Graduate Support Guarantee Exercise & Template

This document details the process for departments to submit information to L&S on their plans to extend graduate support guarantees to prospective students.

Each winter, L&S completes an exercise to track long-term support guarantees extended to incoming graduate students. New for the 2022-2023 academic year, this exercise will be completed via an online form. This process will also include review and approval of departmental support guarantee offer letters. The form, including letter uploads, is due Tues, Mar 1, 2022.


The online Support Guarantee Exercise Form includes the following questions:

Department

Normal length of support guarantee


Current year information:

Number of offers made to incoming students for the 2021-2022 year

Number of offers accepted by incoming students for the 2021-2022 year


Offers for the coming year (2022-2023):

Number of new support offers you plan to make to incoming students

Approximate expected number of acceptances by incoming students

Support Guarantee Letter Templates 

L&S has updated the support guarantee letter templates for Academic year 2022-2023 and all graduate programs housed in L&S departments are required to use the new template, with necessary modifications. All programs are being asked to submit their support guarantee offer letters for review and approval by Tuesday, March 1, 2022.


Actions Requested:

  • Review the templates (documents provided below) and guidelines for support guarantee letters.

  • If the provided support guarantee letter template does not fit your departmental needs, you may modify it as needed.

  • Submit the offer letters for both new and returning students, regardless of modifications, for review and approval through the Support Guarantee Exercise Online Form by Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Please expect a 4 business day turn around and plan accordingly.

  • Wait for the review and approval of the letters before sending them out to prospective students.
