Database Management - "No Common Encryption or Data Integrity Algorithm" Error

This document describes how to resolve the “No common encryption or data integrity algorithm” error message that may appear when trying to connect to an Oracle database.

When attempting to connect to an Oracle database, you receive the error message “No common encryption or data integrity algorithm”.

This error message will appear if your connection is not configured for encryption, which is required for all connections to a UW-protected Oracle database.

To fix this, you will need to edit a configuration file on your computer. For instructions on doing so, please see Database Management - Editing a SQLNet.ora File for Oracle Database Client Security.
