InfoAccess - Setting up an Open Catalog Extension (oce)

These detailed instructions are to be used to set up your Interactive Reporting (Hyperion) OCE. when using the desktop client to write your own queries or run a queries written by other people. The OCE is simply a definition of the connection required to view and query a particular database. The list of .OCE's for Oracle data bases are found in the TNSNames.ora file put in the Oracle path when Oracle was installed.

  1. Open Interactive Reporting

  2. You should see a “Welcome to Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio” dialog box.

  3. Select: “A New Database Connection File” and click OK at the bottom of the screen.

  4. You will get a screen named 'Database Connection Wizard'.

  5. Select Oracle Net in the first 'drop down' and the second 'drop down' will set itself to Oracle. Then click on the Next button

  6. The Database Connection Wizard will now ask for your logon information. Enter the 'user name' and 'password' for the database you are connecting to and the name of the database as it is listed in the TNSNames.ora file on your PC (i.e. InfoAccess, EPM or WISDM are those commonly used on campus).

  7. Select Next.

  8. You will then get a screen that allows you to finish this part of the connection.

  9. Select Finish.

  10. You will be asked if you want to save the .oce. Say Yes.

  11. You will then be asked to name your connection file. In the 'File Name' window identify the database in a way that you will recognize when opening your connection (i.e. InfoAccess, EPM, WISDM).

  12. Click: “Save”.
