Student accessibility and usability barriers
Webex does not provide enough audio feedback for users with visual disabilities to properly navigate the tool. Students, faculty, and staff who are blind or have low vision may not be able to use Webex. Users with motor disabilities that navigate via keyboard, may not be able to navigate the web conferencing session enough to participate fully.
Keyboard accessibility barriers may impact users who have a motor disability and are navigating via keyboard
The Webex functionality features keyboard shortcuts but is not able to be navigated via keyboard using the Tab key as users are accustomed to.
Some screen reader accessibility barriers exist which may be difficult for users who are blind or have low vision
There is some functionality in Webex that does not have sufficient audio feedback to allow the user who is navigating via screen reader to understand button labels or operations.
Avoid using virtual backgrounds
Avoid using virtual backgrounds during a web conferencing event as the effects are visually less accessible to users. Virtual backgrounds can also cause increased CPU workload for the user running the background, which can disrupt their participation in the meeting.
