Accounts - Employee Accounts After Retirement

This document explains what happens to an employee's accounts (NetID and TitanApps) after the employee retires. It also explains how a retiree may keep their TitanApps and NetID accounts active after leaving the university.

What Happens to my TitanApps (E-mail) Account After I Retire?

  • After an employee retires, his/her TitanApps account will remain active for a short period of time.
  • The employee will receive an e-mail notification regarding the deactivation of the account.
    • At this time, the employee will have a week or two before the account is deactivated. If the employee does not wish to keep the e-mail account, no action is required.

What if I Want to Keep my TitanApps Account?

If you retire from the university, you are eligible to retain your TitanApps account. Below are the steps you must take in order to keep the account active:

  1. Prior to your retirement date, or when you receive the pending deactivation notice, contact the Help Desk via phone (920-424-3020), e-mail (helpdesk@uwosh.edu) or by walking into the Help Desk in Dempsey 207.
  2. Provide your name and effective date of retirement to the Help Desk Staff.
  3. Once the classification on your account has been changed to reflect retirement status, your TitanApps account will remain open indefinitely.
    • You will receive notification once the status has been changed.
  4. You will not need to contact the Help Desk again to keep this account open.

Retirees may be contacted periodically to verify the account is still in use. If an account remains unused for an extended period of time, the account will be closed.

If you decide after some time that you no longer wish to keep your account, you may contact the Help Desk and let them know you would like the account deactivated.

What Happens to my NetID Account After I Retire?

After an employee retires, his/her NetID account will be deactivated. Access to the shared drive will also be removed from the employee's account.

What if I Want to Keep my NetID Account?

If you retire from the university, you are eligible to retain your NetID account. Below are the steps you must take in order to keep the account active:
  1. Prior to or on your retirement date, contact the Help Desk to let them know you would like to keep your NetID account active.
  2. Provide your name and effective date of retirement to the Help Desk staff
    • Effective date of retirement is required, as part of the process includes removing access to shared folders which you may still need access to if you are calling prior to your retirement date
  3. Once the classification on your account has been changed, you will be notified. Your NetID account will remain open for one year
    • You will receive notification once the status has been changed.
  4. You will need to contact the Help Desk each year to renew your NetID account. Failure to do so will result in account deactivation.
    • If you no longer wish to keep your NetID account, you may choose not to renew it OR you may contact the Help Desk to let them know.

What if I Forget to Renew my NetID Account?

  1. Contact the IT Help Desk at 920-424-3020 or helpdesk@uwosh.edu.
  2. The IT Help Desk will be able to put in a ticket to have your account reactivated.
