How to access a wired ethernet connection in UW Oshkosh Residence Halls.

Your Ethernet Connection Depends on the Hall You Are In

All halls have at least 1 ethernet port per person.

How to Set Up the Network Switch

This is NOT a wireless router. Devices will need to be connected via ethernet cable to the switch.
  1. Plug the power cable into your switch and into the wall, the green power light should be on. 
  2. Connect the orange ethernet cable to and port on the back of the switch and one of the following dependent on residence hall:
    1. NO Wireless Access Point - Scotts, Gruenhagen, Evans, Stewart, Donner, Webster: Plug the other end of the orange ethernet cable into the black port on the wall.
    2. Wireless Access Point - Scotts, Gruenhagen, Evans, Stewart, Donner, Webster: Plug the other end of the orange ethernet cable into any other port but black on the wireless access point.
    3. Taylor, Fletcher, Horizon: Plug the other end of the orange ethernet cable into an ACTIVE orange port on the wall.
  3. Connect all other devices via ethernet cable to the network switch.
