Duo - Adding Security Key

Duo Multi-Factor Authenticator (MFA) lets you use Security Key as the second layer of security to your NetId account. Verifying your identity using a second factor (Hardware Token, Security Key and Mobile Devices) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.

Adding Security Key

Note: Detailed enrollment instructions can be found on the Duo MFA Enrollment KB by clicking on the link Duo MFA enrollment.

Step 1: Enter your NetId and Password, then click "Sign In"


Step 2: Perform two-factor authentication

Select an authentication method.


Step 3: Provide MFA

  Step 3a: If "Send Me a Push" is selected, check your smartphone app and click "Approve"
  Step 3b: If using FOB or App code, enter the passcode.

Step 4: Manage My Settings and Devices

Now you can add, remove, or reactivate your devices. Click on the Device Options to reactivate or change device name.
Click on Add another device to add a Security Key


      Step 5: Set preferred method of authentication


Hardware tokens are the most basic way of authenticating.

Step 1: Start setup

Click "Start setup" to begin enrolling your device.


Step 2: Choose Your Authentication Device Type

Select the type of device you'd like to enroll and click "Continue". We recommend using a smartphone for the best experience, but you can also enroll iOS/Android tablets.


Step 3:Enroll your Security Key

Step 3a. Click on Continue to enroll you security key.

Step 3b. After clicking  continue, a pop-up window will appear

Step 3c. Tap on the security key button  to enroll



Step 4. Security Key has been added
