Canvas – Integration – Hypothesis

Hypothesis is approved for use within the Digital Learning Environment (DLE). This product requires an institution license and Memorandum of Understanding. Contact your institutional Canvas administrator for more information.

Summary

Hypothesis enables students to collaboratively annotate Canvas web pages and files, public web pages and PDF files. Annotation activities and guidance can be found in the article, Annotate This: How a Common Academic Practice Can Boost Learning. As an assignment, annotations appear in SpeedGrader.

Interested faculty and staff should contact their institutional admin if they are interested in using this tool.

Costs

The University of Wisconsin has an agreement with Hypothesis that allows campuses to obtain licenses at a reduced rate. Please contact Julie Pohlman for current pricing or to order licenses.

Directions

Once the tool is enabled, instructors are free to make annotation activities in their course.
