(Madison) - Donor notes for grants in electronic resources

This article documents the procedures Madison used to fulfill an acknowledgment requirement for a grant from the Library Collection Enhancement Initiative (LCEI).

Notes for all of UW System

  • Donor notes may have prescribed language. Example: “Support for this collection was provided by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education with funding from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation” provided by the donor.
  • When other public notes are present, the donor note should be the last to appear, and should be separated from previous notes with <br>

Notes for non-Madison campuses

  • Only add the note at the collection level to get it to show for collection and portfolios. In Primo, collection-level notes also “trickle down” to appear at the portfolio level.

Notes for Madison

  • Donor notes are added at every constituent part level—databases, sub-modules, and title-level records.
    • In the Madison coordinated discovery interface (Forward) they don’t "trickle down" to appear at the portfolio level, etc.
    • Similarly, this would be a problem for NZ-managed resources because we can’t get the note to show up at both collection and portfolio level for Madison without having it duplicated at the portfolio level for other System libraries.
  • Donor notes are included in the related Database Library entries (Madison’s A to Z database list).

The donor note was added as a Public Note at the collection level for databases and sub-modules:
