The mission of University Police is to promote the safety and security of all persons who come in contact with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, its facilities and services.
- Provides complete law enforcement services
- Enforces all state laws and Administrative Codes and are deputized by the Dane County Sheriff
- Provides services that a traditional police department would provide, and also includes a mountain bike patrol, motorcycle patrol, detective bureau, Crime Prevention Unit,training unit, mounted patrol, and participates in the Dane County Narcotics & GangTask Force.
Will provide information when flags on campus are flying at half-mast.
UWPD also publishes a monthly newsletter, 'Badger Beat,' available through the web site or by email subscription.
Badger Watch offers one-hour, basic safety-awareness presentations for its volunteers, as well as advanced safety-training courses. The program also reaches out to the campus community on Facebook, where volunteers can network and share information on crime prevention. Each year, the police department also sponsors a free all-day Badger Watch safety conference that is open to the campus community.
