This document describes the process for printing to a GoPrint server from personal computers connected to UW-Madison's network.
Note: Images are from Windows 7. Windows and dialogs will look slightly different for Vista and 8 but are functionally identical.
Ensure that you are currently logged in to the campus wireless otherwise you will be unable to add campus printers.
Open up Windows Explorer.
In the address bar, enter the server you wish to connect to (e.g. \\goprint.doit.wisc.edu, \\libprint.library.wisc.edu) and hit enter. See GoPrint - Printer Queue Names and Locations to determine what queue you want to connect to. Note: It is important to include the backslashes in front of the address. If you do not, Windows will assume you want to go to a website and open a browser taking you to the wrong place.
You will be prompted for a username and password. This is not your NetID. See GoPrint - Printer Queue Names and Locations for the username and password for the server you're connecting to. You may wish to have windows save the password if you'll be printing again in the future.
A list of printers should appear. Right click on the printer you want to install and click Connect... You may not have permission to connect to some of the printers on the list. See GoPrint - Printer Queue Names and Locations to identify the name of the queue you want.
The printer should begin installing.
You may be prompted to install a printer driver. If so, click Install Driver
The printer should eventually finish installing.
The printer should now be installed. Make sure to select it when printing.
