- Groups will be sorted by group name only, no longer by folder name and then group name.
- Group members will be displayed in a simple alpha list without sub-grouping. Icons will help distinguish a group from an individual.
- Group names will display the full path and group number and individuals will be listed FirstName LastName.
- Group members will continue to be sortable by name but not by Start or End date.
- The name column will no longer have a keyword filter.
- On the My Groups page, the results will show more groups than before. The new results will include data-driven groups and other background process groups.
- On the My Groups page, filtering will only filter by group path and will show results with the search term contained in the group path.
- On the Management Tools page, the 'Find where your groups are being used' is now performed using a group path. Replacing the drop down menu of all groups, you are able to search for a group path and then click search. Note, this query does take some time to complete.
Why the change?
This is an update to simple and efficient industry standard code (APIs) from complex and inefficient legacy code (direct database integration). This change will also facilitate the Grouper cloud migration.
How can I search for individual members of a large group now that filtering is not available?
You can use the
Manifest Management Tools to search for and remove a user's group memberships using the user's NetID (note that you will only be able to see the user's membership in groups for which you have admin rights). If you do not know the user's NetID, you can use the NetID lookup tool to obtain it. To request access to the NetID lookup tool, send an email to
manifest@doit.wisc.edu with the subject
NetID Lookup Tool Access Request and provide the business reason you need access to the tool. If your business purpose seems valid, we will provision you access to the tool.
