University of Wisconsin-Extension is a unique partnership of counties, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the University of Wisconsin working together to help people put knowledge to work. It reflects the vision that has become known as The Wisconsin Idea.
Program areas include Agriculture, Community Development, Family Living, Horticulture, Nutrition Education and 4-H Youth Development.
Agriculture Agents provide agriculture research information to farmers, agri-business people, home gardeners and families.
The Community, Natural Resource and Economic Development (CNRED) Educators design and deliver educational programs and technical assistance to local/civic organizations, community leaders, businesses, and local government officials.
Family Living Educators work with University Specialists to provide research-based information on topics that affect today's families.
Home Horticulture Help Line is available to Dane County Residents by calling (608) 224-3721 between the hours of 9 am and 1 pm, Monday through Friday.
The University of Wisconsin-Extension Nutrition Education Program responds to the diverse needs and resources of the economically poor by serving as a catalyst for the research, development and implementation of community-based nutrition and resource management education programs.
4-H is the youth development part of University of Wisconsin-Extension. Dane County youth and adults learn together to think clearly and make decisions, to care about others, to develop skills for living, and to practice healthy lifestyles. Education happens through 4-H projects, group programs, fun activities, and in-depth learning experiences. 4-H youth and adult volunteers work to improve their individual lives and communities in which they live.
Closed all major holidays AND the day after Thanksgiving.
