Aims to make all existing resources available to the low income community in Jefferson, Waukesha, and Dane Counties. Identify, pre-screen and refer clients to services in the areas of health, transportation, food, elderly services, housing, recreation and financial management.
Services include citizen advocacy, community gardens, family support, financial services ("it's my business" and financial literacy) , food security, and volunteer services. Runs the Federal USDA Commodity Distribution Program (TEFAP), manages garden plots (see separate record), provides housing-related assistance, runs Citizen Advocacy and manages the Dane County Clothing Center (see separate record).
There is a list of volunteer opportunities on the website, including volunteering at the Clothing Center and Food Security.
CAC has discontinued the Food Fair Program. The majority of the sites they serve will now be served by SHARE, another food-buying club. For more information, email email@example.com.
Their five-year goals include helping people develop the capacity, knowledge and skills necessary to improve their economic and social circumstances and ensuring that people develop assets that enable them to strengthen their economic futures.
