Learn@UW - Copying Questions into the Question Library from a Quiz, Survey, or Self Assessment

This document describes how to copy questions into the question library of a course from an exiting quiz, survey, or self assessment in the same course.

  1. Select the Quizzes, Surveys, or Self Assessments tool.

  2. Select Question Library from near the top.

  3. Optionally create a folder in the question library into which you want to copy the questions.

  4. Select the folder in the question library into which you want to copy the questions (unless you want to copy into the root folder).

  5. Press the Import button near the top.

  6. For "Import Source", make sure From an Existing Collection is selected.

  7. For "Source Collection", select the quiz, survey, or self assessment.

  8. For "Source Section", select Collection Root or the name of a quiz folder.

    Note: You cannot import questions from a random folder into the Question Library. If you attempt to import questions from a random folder or a quiz that contains only random folders, you will receive the message: "This collection is empty."

  9. Select the questions (and sections, if any) from the available list you want to copy into the question library.

  10. Press the Save button.

Note: If you press Save before selecting a "Source Section" intending to copy in all questions, one of the following may occur:

If you experience either of these behaviors, repeat the above procedure from step 4 and make sure you do not omit step 8.
