Learn@UW - Submissions in Plagiarism-Enabled Dropbox Folder to Turnitin Not Processing
If Turnitin submissions remain "in-progress" there are several possible explanations.
This document describes how to proceed when submissions in plagiarism-enabled Dropbox folders to Turnitin do not provide Originality Reports and remain "in-progress".
It is possible that the service manager that handles the submissions to D2L needs to be restarted. In this case, submissions to all plagiarism-enabled Dropbox folders would be affected. Other services, such as instant notifications from Discussion topics, and Intelligent Agents, would also be affected. A problem report should be filed.
If only one Dropbox folder appears to be affected, it may be that the end date on the Turnitin side has passed. For example, if an instructor creates a Dropbox folder with an end date and only activates plagiarism detection after the end date on the Dropbox folder, the submissions will remain perpetually "in-progress."
The submissions can be made to process only if the end date is reset on the Turnitin servers (this is not the same as changing the end date on the Dropbox folder). To change the end date on the Turnitin servers, a new file must be submitted to the Dropbox folder.
To do so, use the following procedure:
- Enroll a test user in the course.
- Provide special access to this user in the Dropbox folder to submit after the end date.
- Have the test user submit a file for processing, which will reset the end date for processing on the Turnitin servers.
- Manually re-queue all the other submissions by clicking on the in-box icons with green arrows.
- Un-enroll the test user.
The submissions should all be processed. If the submissions still seem to remain "in-progress," please submit a problem report.
