Meta tags are snippets of machine friendly text that describe a document's content. They don't appear on the document itself, but only in the document's code. They serve as little content descriptors that tell search engines what the document is about. Search engines compare the words within each of these sections and "ranks" the site dependent upon how well the information matches. Meta tags optimize your KB site for more efficient indexing and easier sharing of your content.

Once the desired meta tags have been generated, those with specific KB permissions may copy and paste that data in the Internal and/or External Site Header Meta Tags field found in the Site Headers screen.
The image below shows a blank field circled in red in which to insert Meta Tags into the Internal Site Header. To find the External Site Header Meta Tags field, simple scroll down a bit on the same screen for the External site options.
Please know that meta tags will not be displayed but are browser parsable.
