Legislative Affairs / ASM

Legislative Affairs is one of the five open committees of the Associated Students of Madison (ASM) and is in charge of advocating for students at the city, county, and state level. We organize grassroots campaigns and lobby our local and state representatives for policies that benefit students and protect funding for UW-Madison. The goal of this committee is to deepen its members' knowledge of the Wisconsin legislative process and hone their skills through lobby-training workshops and direct interaction with campus leaders and local officials. In the 2018-19 school year, Legislative Affairs will focus on voter registration and the WI budget process, along with other areas of pressing student concern which may arise during the year. This committee coordinates with other open committees of ASM to ensure the student voice is heard.
