Adobe & Microsoft Software Licensing Overview

This is a simplified overview of Adobe and Microsoft licensing and software availability at UW-Madison.

Adobe
License Program Enterprise Term License Agreement (Adobe - Enterprise Term License Agreement (ETLA); site license) CLP (transactional; purchase one license per installation)
Software Available Creative Cloud Captivate & Presenter Everything not covered under the ETLA (Premiere Elements, Coldfusion, Contribute, etc)

Method of Distribution

End-users log in with NetID Federated account, download, and use software from within CC Desktop app. IT Staff build named-user deployment packages in Adobe Enterprise Admin Console. End-users log in with NetID Federated account. IT Staff build Shared Device Licensing deployment packages in Adobe Enterprise Admin Console. End-users can log in to use software with NetID Federated account. End-users subscribe from links on Captivate & Presenter items in CSL Purchase media with license or download software from Adobe after purchase.

*Faculty and staff are defined by their UW-Madison employee class for the purposes of the Adobe agreement.

License Program Enrollment for Education Solutions (Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES); site license) Select Plus (transactional; in general, each installation requires a license purchase, but there are several different licensing models within Select)
Software Available Office

Windows Desktop Upgrade OS

Everything not covered under the EES (Visio, Project, Windows Server, SQL Server, System Center, etc)
Method of Distribution Several Office apps have an online version that runs in a browser. NetID login required. NetID login and download of click-to-run installers from M365 portal IT Staff download MSI or C2R installers from CSL IT Staff build C2R installers using the Office Deployment Tool IT Staff download installers from CSL Purchase license from the Software Order Form. Most Select Plus license purchases trigger an email to purchaser that includes link to a local installer.
