Office 365 (Thunderbird) - Send an email to a contact or personal group
This document will provide you step-by-step instructions on how to send an email to a contact or a group.
Important: The contacts you manage within Thunderbird are not saved to your Office 365 account. They can only be used within Thunderbird. Plus, any contacts you have created using a client that is connected via Exchange/Active Sync (Outlook | Apple Mail | Outlook Web App) cannot be accessed via Thunderbird.
Send an email to a contact- Open Thunderbird
- Select Write
- In the To field, begin typing the name of the contact you are emailing
- When you see Thunderbird automatically populate the field with your contact's name and email, hit the Return key
- Compose your email
- Select Send
Note If you have not previously emailed or saved your contact, you will need to type the full email address of the person you are emailing. If you would like to add this person as a contact after sending your email, please this see document: Create a Contact.
Send an email to a group
- Open Thunderbird
- Select Write
- In the To field, begin typing the name of the list you want to email
- When you see Thunderbird automatically populate the field with the name of the list, hit the Return key
- Compose your email
- Select Send
