Researchers who will use
samples/images/data for research purposes will need to submit one of the
following application types, based on the study activities: 1) Initial review
application: Full review; 2) Initial review application: Non-exempt medical
records review; 3) Initial review application: Exemption; 4) Reading
Center/Statistical Data Analysis Center (SDAC)/Analysis center for data,
specimens and/or images.
The type of application required is dependent on
the source of the samples/images/data for research purposes, as well as the
identifiability of the samples/images/data and whether the samples/images/data
are currently in existence. Furthermore,
the role of the investigator in the testing and analysis of the
samples/images/data could impact the type of application required.
